The 25 gauge vitrector can be used through a tiny,
"sutureless" incision in the sclera (the white of
the eye). Because of the way the incision is
constructed, it seals naturally from the eye's
internal
pressure,
thus eliminating the need for sutures. This
technique has been pioneered by Dr. Deupree and as a
result, he was one of the first sutureless surgeons
in the country to test the 25 gauge system.
